Leaders and Learners Community Celebration
Monroe County School District and Sunset Celebration invite the local community
to show support for our future generation of artists during the week of December
11-17, 2006 at Mallory
Square. Each night a different Elementary, Middle and High School from Key Largo
to Key West will showcase their students’ visual and performing arts in concert
with Sunset participants.
“Through interacting with the general public at Mallory Square and engaging in
commerce we hope to inspire these rising stars to continue developing their
talent. Like magic, rain or shine,
a crowd has gathered for the past 30+ years in a spontaneous celebration of the
arts and sunset. This is fertile ground for these developing artists’ creativity
to flourish”, explains Diana
Patterson, Executive Director of the Cultural Preservation Society.
Leaders and Learners Community, the Amber Archer Bosco, Poinciana Elementary
Principal’s project will help CPS identify recipients for grants, both students
and school programs.
Shannon Perkins, the School District’s Art Department Director has shown
remarkable resolve in gathering support from the individual school’s art
departments and teachers.
The Cultural Preservation Society, dba Sunset Celebration reaches out to the
Community to join in the rewarding task of protecting and nurturing our
heritage, past, present and future.
